Gold All Awash Collection

This collection began as an experiment. An experiment to see how oil and acrylic paint would mix. The experiment quickly turned into discovery, and discovery brought forth a beautiful result. The Gold All Awash collection uniquely challenges the simple rules placed before artists and creators alike. Using modern colors and hues, it exposes the beauty that can be created through discovery and curiosity. As you view these paintings, observe how the oil and water interact to create a single thought-provoking image.

Ink Collection

This collection of work began with a group of well-used pens and some old photographs. It developed over the course of 2 years through new experiences and thrilling adventures. The ink collection focuses on exposing the details of everyday sightings and objects. Whether it was through hiking in Yosemite, walking along sandy beaches, or countless midnight drives home, I experienced the Lord’s incredible love for detail which I attempted to reveal through these drawings. While you view each sketch, take notice of every pen stroke. Imagine each detail come to life. And experience my world with me.

“The richness I achieve comes from nature, the source of my inspiration.” {Claude Monet}

Abstract Collection

This series was the beginning of the diffusion study. Instead of focusing on the scientific process, it’s purpose is to show the importance of water in the painting process. The paint in these pieces is watered down and moved in a way natural to it’s design. Without the simple ingredient of water, these paintings could not exist. In Isaiah, he describes God’s faithfulness through incredible pain. He is always there, helping you, comforting you, and holding your hand. The water described in the following verses was evidence that he was there.

“Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you. Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.”

Isaiah 35:4-5

 Photo-Realism Collection

This series was completed in oil during the years 2014-2015. It’s purpose is to expose the details that are too often passed by. The piece labeled “Veins” is a painting of the veins of a leaf up close. It shows the light, airy feel that a photo of a leaf may have. The piece labeled “Illumination” is a painting of morning clouds and the piece labeled “Adhesion” is of pool water. Each piece was painted with different shades of one color in order to display details versus color. While you view these paintings, look for the subtle variants in shade and color.

Diffusion Abstract Collection

This series was originally designed to experiment with the scientific process called diffusion. The paint is thin enough to mix with surrounding colors, but thick enough to dry before diffusion is complete. As you view these paintings, look for the areas in which diffusion is occurring. Like dye in a glass of water, the paint tries to reach beyond itself and join surrounding areas.

“The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.” {Pablo Picasso}
